How to Install the Invisidrain
- After deciding on the location of your wall shower drain, cut out a 7 inch piece of the floor plate.
- Using a hole saw, cut 2 3/4 to 3 inch diameter hole in the sub-floor, centered in the cutout and 1/8 inch from the front edge of the plate.
- If intending to mud in the floor, the top of the floor flange of the drain should be at least 3/4 inch above the sub-floor.
- Secure Invisidrain in position. Using the pre-drilled holes, screw Invisidrain to the studs, floor plate and/or additional framing.
- Cover the screw heads with thin-set.
- Install shower wall-board flush with Invisidrain edges.
- Install mud floor. (if using pre-sloped floor see note below)
- Apply flexible sealant caulk to the joints and corners.
- Install membrane or sheathing of your choice over drain box flanges.
- If using paintable membrane, install one coat of membrane to all drain surfaces to be tiled. Install 6 inch fiberglass tape with thin-set and use 2 coats of liquid membrane.
- If using sheathing membrane, apply one coat of liquid membrane to all surfaces you intend to tile, including the removable door face.
- Install tile to intended surfaces, including Invisidrain flanges and the front of the removable door face.
- Tile should extend 1/4 of an inch below the top of the drain box opening.
- Removable door tile should be 2 9/16 inches high x 7 1/4 inches wide.
- For proper drainage, a gap of 1/2 inch should be maintained from bottom of door to finished tile floor.
NOTE: If using pre-sloped flooring product, follow manufacturers instructions and flush the floor to the top of the Invisidrain floor flange.
